TRAIN DRIVERS – 7 POSITIONS
JOB PURPOSE
To safely and efficiently operate locomotives and trains in accordance with the Company's operating procedures, railway safety rules, route instructions, train working procedures and applicable legislation.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Safe Train Operation
Pre-Departure Inspection
Train Handling
Compliance with Railway Rules
Effective communication with the Train Controller, Train Driver Assistant and shunting personnel and other railway employees.
Incident and Emergency Management
Identification of abnormal locomotive conditions.
Maintaining and completing all relevant train documentation.
Safety and Health Compliance
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Grade 10/12 with Mathematics and Science
Relevant accredited train driving qualification and license.
Successful completion of the Company's driver training and competency assessment.
Route competency for the routes on which the employee operates.
Valid medical fitness certification applicable to safety-critical railway duties.
Valid competency on the relevant locomotive types.
At least ten years previous experience in heavy haul operations.
Experience with diesel-electric locomotives.
Experience with multiple locomotives.
Experience with air-braked trains.
Dangerous good railway experience.
